Joelle Fouse (Promise Community Homes): The former director of finance and human resources for Promise Community Homes (formerly Rainbow Village), a charity serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, was sentenced to 40 months in prison for embezzling nearly $700,000 over a decade (2012-2023). She used the funds for personal expenses like travel, clothing, and rent for herself and her relatives, covering up her crimes with falsified records.
Connie Bobo (New Heights Community Resource Center): The former executive director of this non-profit, which provided meals to low-income children, was convicted of stealing approximately $11 million. She submitted fraudulent claims for millions of meals that were never served and used the money to purchase luxury items, including a nearly $1 million home.
The Bailey Foundation Leaders: A couple who ran The Bailey Foundation, a non-profit intended to feed low-income children, are accused of stealing over $7 million in taxpayer funds. They allegedly used the money for a lavish lifestyle, including a $1.4 million home with a pool and basketball court, and various vehicles.
Simone Mlen (Sister of Lavender Rose): The founder of the non-profit Sister of Lavender Rose was indicted on four counts of wire fraud, accused of defrauding the state of more than $2 million by filing false meal reimbursement claims.
